What did Jesus do?

So... we have Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Apart from performing many miracles, what did He do? Well during His life He repeatedly told His followers that He had come to the earth for a purpose - to free people from their sin.

This was, and still is, necessary due to the state of mankind. From the very youngest to the oldest we're all tainted with wrong; sin is an integral part of us! As the Bible say, "..all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans chapter 3 verse 23). We've all done wrong, we all fall short of God's required standards and we all deserve to be punished for our sin.

Jesus came and lived a perfect life; dying on a cruel Roman cross so that the penalty for our sins might be paid. He took all our sin and guilt on himself, so that we don't have to. He took the punishment in our place and then rose again from the dead, proving that God accepted his death as payment for the sin of those who trust in Him.

By accepting His sacrifice as payment for our sin and by trusting in Him, He offers the opportunity to avoid an eternity in Hell, paying for them ourselves. This is how we can be saved, saved from our sin, and its consequences. This is why those who trust Jesus Christ, and give their lives to Him can go to Heaven when they die.

So, will you come to Jesus Christ and ask Him to forgive you of your sin? Will you give your life to Him? The Bible calls on us to repent (to regret and turn from our sin) and to follow Christ, and to love God.
