Who is Jesus Christ?

If you take a coin from your pocket and look closely, stop to think about the date on it. It will display the year that the coin was made. The reference point for this is the traditional year for the Birth of Christ and is recognised as marking the number of years, following on from the birth of Christ. It is true that we cannot be certain exactly which year Christ was born, but the fact still remains - there lived a man called Jesus Christ, about 2000 years ago, whose birth marks the centre point for all time.

We know from history that Jesus lived and died, but a closer look into the Bible tells us that He entered the world in an extraordinary way - He was born of a virgin. Furthermore, it wasn't long before He was making a name for Himself as One who could heal the blind, lame, deaf, control nature and even raise people from the dead. Yet at the age of 33 He was taken and stood before the chief courts and rulers, who concluded that this man had done no wrong.

So, who is this Jesus? The Bible says that He is the Son of God, who came to the earth with a mission in mind, to free mankind from sin. Jesus Himself said this "I am the way, I am the truth, I am the life, no-one comes to the Father except through Me." (John chapter 14 verse 6), reminding us that He is the only way for us to get to heaven.
