Bournemouth

Years UBM have operated

2005 onwards (although was a “tradtional” beach mission week from 1998 to 2004).

Overview

The team will assemble by 5.00pm on Saturday. This mission focuses on sharing the Gospel with the many international students who come to study English each summer. Many have never heard the good news before and come from countries where there is little or no gospel witness. The mission is run in partnership with similar work run by Friends International (FI). Contacts made by the UBM team are followed up by the FI teams that follow ours.

Bournemouth is a large town centre with a high street that connects to the seafront via beautiful gardens. Nearby Boscombe (where the team stay) is the next pier along the beach. Both Bournemouth and Boscombe are vibrant urban spaces with all the conveniences you would expect.

The opportunity for one to one and small group Gospel conversations in Bournemouth is excellent. Over the years we have been happy to engage in 100’s of friendly conversations and discussions with a diverse group of individuals from all over the world. There have been many opportunities to meet to study the Bible and friendships have been formed which continue long after the mission and span continents.

Accommodation

UBM Team, The Selwyn Hall, St Johns Church, Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, BH1 4AD

The accommodation at St Johns is excellent. In addition to a large team meeting/dining room, there is a well-equipped kitchen, separate male and female sleeping quarters and WC’s. The centre also has a shower.

If you are joining us as a team member you will need to bring your own airbed, sleeping bag and pillow. We do not wear UBM uniforms for this mission so none will be provided, please ensure you bring enough of your own clothes for the mission.

Limited off street car parking is provided although we will need to keep this clear at certain times of the week so that the Church can utilise the car park. There are two car parks either side of the Selwyn Hall, please note that the accommodation is only accessible via the Christchurch Road car park.
