Overview

Oxford's world-famous university dates back to the 12th Century and is arguably the oldest university in the English-speaking world. Throughout its history Oxford has been a hot bed for the religious, scientific and moral debates that have shaped our country. Ideas first planted in embryo-form here spread out across the world affecting the whole of human society for both good and for evil. It is the city that "burned the martyrs" in the time of Queen Mary I and the city where Richard Dawkins still preaches his false “gospel” of atheism.

With millions of tourists from across the globe, together with a very large student population and 165,000 plus local inhabitants, Oxford is one of the best opportunities for open-air preaching in the country. There is a lively street culture. We meet a diverse collection of men and women, many willing to stop and engage in conversation, including tourists (many nationalities), students, shoppers, business people, homeless, from all social backgrounds and walks of life.

There are great opportunities for open-air preachers and for men and women of all ages; one-to-one personal workers, those who can assist at the evangelistic book table, and those who can simply hand out Christian literature to passers-by.

Previous experience is always valuable but not essential as you will learn how to evangelise in a friendly, winsome way from experienced evangelists.
